The Great Get Together – Afternoon Tea and Talks
21 June @ 14:30 - 17:30£15
On Friday 21 June at 14:30, Portland Works will be hosting an afternoon tea lecture as part of the national “Great Get Together”. Inspired by the late Jo Cox, this movement behind these events is aimed at the groundswell of people that reject divisive politics and simply want to bring their communities together to celebrate all that unites us.
This lecture will be a little different from our usual events. In addition to a fascinating lecture from a respected local historian, your entry ticket will also include the cost of an excellent afternoon tea provided by PJ Taste of Sheffield.
The speaker for this event will be Nick Duggan, Curator of the Hawley Collection which adjoins Kelham Island Museum. Nick will be talking about the wide range of Sheffield made implements that the Victorians used for eating, and you wil have an opportunity to handle the objects.
The afternoon tea will be served at 3pm following the Lecture. It will consist of a selection of cocktail sandwiches served on three-tier cake stands together with a selection of PJ Taste’s sweet afternoon fancies:
- Mini lemon tarts
- Creamy cup cakes
- Frazers locally Roasted Fairtrade Coffee
- Cafedirect Fairtrade Tea
- All served on vintage china.
Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options are available if requested in advance. Once again, ticket numbers are limited, so please book promptly.
- 14:00 Doors Open and Lecture Begins
- 15:00 Afternoon Tea is Served
- 16:30 Ends
All profits to be split between Cavendish Cancer Care and Portland Works.
