Heritage Lecture: A Potted History of the Humble Fork
27 February @ 19:00 - 21:00£4.00
On Wednesday 27 February and in the third of Portland Work’s Heritage Lecture series, Paul Iseard of The Famous Sheffield Shop will use examples of antique cutlery to transport you through six centuries of UK eating etiquette and habits. He will show how some of our current practices have their origins in medieval times.
The subject matter relates strongly to Sheffield’s historic place in the production and development of cutlery. The talk is interactive with lots of opportunity for the audience to comment and question. And the evening will end with a quiz to guess the purpose of various cutlery items from Paul’s collection. There will even be prizes!
Previous lectures were extremely well attended and numbers are limited so please book well in advance.
Free refreshments included. Doors open at 18:30.
