Heritage Lecture: Lead Poisoning in Sheffield 1880 – 1920
24 July @ 19:00 - 21:00TBA
The city of Sheffield suffered greatly from lead poisoning for a period of forty years around the turn of the century but few people understand the extend of this issue.
At our heritage lecture on Wednesday 24 July, we will welcome Dr Mike Collins to tell us more about this fascinating period. The subject matter will include file cutting, smelting, the water supply and abortifacients. Dr Collins is a member of Sheffield Hospitals History Group which comprises ex-NHS staff who volunteer to care for the collection of artefacts from the hospitals.
Tickets will be on sale in early July.
