Online Heritage Lecture: “Sheffield Castle and Sheffield Manor Lodge”

24 February @ 19:00 - 20:30

An in depth and updated interpretation of the two most iconic buildings in Sheffield’s Medieval and Tudor history.

The talk features new images and information of both Sheffield Castle, the 4th largest medieval castle in England, and Manor Lodge, which served as a royal prison of Mary, Queen of Scots and investigates the important part they have played in Sheffield’s History.

Discover more details of the Civil War period which brought the castle to ruin and view the superb new images of Manor Lodge through the centuries; plus, much more as we bring these two historical sites back to their rightful place in a great Sheffield story. Why not join us as David Templeman peels back the centuries and visit/revisit the mainstay of Sheffield’s pre-1700’s history. David is an Elizabethan historian, author, national speaker, and chair of the Friends of Sheffield Manor Lodge

About our speaker: David Templeman

I was born in the 1940’s in Sheffield and always had a passion for history from an early age. When I retired from the leisure trade some 15 years ago, I joined Sheffield Manor Lodge as a volunteer guide and, with the aid of my wife, we set up the Friends of Sheffield Manor Lodge, which now boasts a membership of over 360 Members. My specialised interest during this time was the English captivity of Mary Queen of Scots culminating in 2016, after 12 years of intensive research, my book called “Mary Queen of Scots the Captive Queen in England 1568-87” It is now approaching the 3,000 mark in sales.
