Marco Foley is an experienced communications professional with a 20-year track record in brand strategy, copywriting and design. Since 2011, he has been managing director of 652South Ltd, a communications agency specialising in creative and cultural industries, and has been involved as a director at Portland Works since 2015.
Before this, Marco worked as a session musician, had leadership roles in marketing and design, and held European communications director positions in Fortune 500 companies, international corporations and an award-winning PR bureau. At 652South, Marco has partnered with non-profit clients to devise and support campaign strategies that have helped change authors’ rights legislation in three countries and prompted global debate on cultural remuneration. He has delivered websites and print collateral to represent millions of creators in discussions with government culture ministers, the EU commission, the UN, the World Intellectual Property Organisation and UNESCO.
He also serves alongside a number of internationally renown songwriters as a board member at Fair Trade Music International. This global non-profit movement campaigns for an equitable music streaming economy from its headquarters in Canada and is backed by 500,000 music creators from around the world.
Marco’s experience extends from directing seven-figure corporate communication budgets to helping non-profits, charities and creative start-ups to build their campaigns and share their stories.
