Mary Sewell is an artist working in ceramics. She has been based at Portland Works since 2006. She makes ceramic sculptures influenced by the global phenomenon of prehistoric figurines that have been found around the world. She collects ochre from local streams which she mixes with the clay to give a variety of tones. She hand builds by coiling and pinching her forms into shape.
She also offers figurine workshops to small groups throughout the year from her studio.
