Friday 18th June – Afternoon Lecture

This lecture is a community event and as such forms part of the Great Get Together national event 18th – 20th June 21.

The aim of Outreach and Education at Portland Works is to reach out to the community and to promote education and learning. It is really important that the building is accessible to people and we tried to find new ways in which to do this in a working environment. One of the successes has been our Heritage Lecture series. Due to the pandemic these have continued online since August 2020. Our next one is the community based lecture held each June to coincide with the annual Great Get Together weekend.

Our guest speaker, Laura Baker from Nomad.

Nomad are our neighbours located at the Sheffield United Business Enterprise Unit on Bramall Lane. “Nomad is a charity that exists to provide affordable housing to help people transition out of homelessness quickly and positively. We support people to develop the skills and resilience to help them avoid homelessness in the future.”

We hope that you were about to join this special event on the Friday the 18th June at 2:00 pm.

Tickets will be available on Eventbrite from the 1st of June. A donation to Nomad will be included in the ticket price.

Heritage Open Days Festival from the 10th to the 19th  September

The theme set by the National Trust Team who organise and promote the festival is to be ‘Edible England’.  We hope to highlight and exhibit some of the examples of eating implements, serving dishes and table paraphernalia located as part of our Global Cutlery Search.

On behalf of everyone here at Portland Works thank you for joining in our online May Open Weekend. We are looking forward to being able to welcome visitors back to Portland Works soon.

Please donate if you are able to help maintain this Grade 2* listed building via the donate button.
