Portland Works Roof

Roofing Works Update

The volunteers continue to work hard to deal with broken windows and damaged pointing, where the scaffolding gives them access. The quality of the pointing work and the speed with which it is carried out is increasing, and the confidence of the volunteers in brandishing a trowel grows! We’d like to extend our thanks to all the Tuesday volunteers, especially those who braved the recent freezing weather to come and work here. We appreciate your dedication and continuing hard work.

We have just taken delivery of the remaining guttering to complete C Block, which should see an end to the dripping in the corner.

The roofer has now started the third roof. The weather has proved challenging at times, snow, wind and lashing rain contributing to slowing the process down. However, progress is being made and the upper parts of the Works are beginning to look a lot smarter.

This roof wasn’t in too bad a condition once the slates came off.

Roof going back on.
